The evaporative air cooler arrived in good shape. This is a personal-sized cooler that cannot be expected to cool entire rooms under normal conditions. This type of cooler works best where the relative humidity is low. I am using it in the SE United States where the humidity ranges in the mid-high range most of the time. I did not expect to achieve the same performance as in drier environs. Test: The ambient air temperature in the room is 23.6 C (74.5 F) while the air from the unit is 21.3 C (70.3 F). That is a modest cooling but is satisfactory. The benefit over a fan, which has a higher air capacity, is the air is modestly cooler and is moist which helps remove heat from the body. The negative is that the unit cannot cool a large area by much and moisture can build up. I plan to use this in a room that is not cooled well because it faces the afternoon and evening sun. The central air conditioning will remove the humidity while the unit provides local cooling.
